Anyone else's horse still really hairy?

His winter coat is coming out just very very slowly! I have been using a shedding blade, rubber curry, my hands, basically anything to try and get as much hair out as possible, but there's still so much more to come!

Any tips before I resort to the clippers!!???

Put a summer rug on if you can stand to and he might sweat some out. How old is your chap is it worth a cushings test whilst they are still free as it does feel late to be that hairy even my guys are looking slightly normal now.

Clipped mine today, used the long setting on the trimmers, just took the long winter hair off and left summer coat. Bathed him and gave him a scrub with rubber curry comb and looks fine! He was getting far too sweaty and looks as though he's shed it naturally :)

He's only 6 and definitely doesn't have cushings, he was naked all winter so I think he would probably report me if I tried to put a rug on him in June!! :D:D

It is still wise to get him tested for Cushings as horses can occur in younger horses even though it is more common in equines over 15. There is a free Cushings test you can do too - http://www.talkaboutlaminitis.co.uk/#

You did well then as the can look spikey if clipped this late:)

Cobsgalore - the shock of seeing the ruggy might be enough:D

My cob's winter coat is coming out so slowly! He's 20 and been tested for cushings but test came out negative. By the time he loses his winter coat he will start growing it again in readiness for the winter! I've used a shedding blade, rubber curry comb. plucking with fingers and it still wont come out!
