Sorry in advance because there will be a lot of numpty questions from me for a the next few weeks but are there any normal webbing (i.e. non-leather/made to measure/fancy/showing) head collars to fit Arabs? I've tried all mine on her but a full sized one is way too big round the nose and I can't adjust it enough to make it fit. Cob size is no better and pony is too small. I can try to put more holes in the noseband area but think they will fray if I even manage to get some more holes into it but I would prefer to keep her in a head collar in the field until I get to know her better.

Has anyone else found a good answer to this problem?

If you want one in the field I use IV horse field one as it has Velcro nose and headstall. I would get a cob and adjust the nose if I needed to- no buckles so a quick cut and sew job. F's not had his off since we started using it in October :)

Also Libby's will adjust/make to order. We have a field safe one from them too but the nose is not adjustable.

Ì know you said no leather, but the cheap (ish) shires cob sized is the best fit on my dainty headed Arabs. Because I use it everyday, it's turned into lovely soft leather too. My horseware fieldsafe one in cob size is good too.

Thanks everyone :) Just what I needed - a few suggestions, as it gets expensive to keep buying useless stuff - will go head collar shopping after lunch :D

If my reply isn't too late, the really adjustable cottage craft ones are good (with three buckles). Cob size is perfect, but I have a full one too that adjusts small enough, although you have loads of spare straps!

Lol Snowy , welcome to the world of ' nothing fits my Arab' to date here is a list of things that don't fit mine...
Head collar ...ah yes you have discovered that one already. Faracats suggestion is good, i found this out AFTER i had bought at least 5!!!!!
Bridle... cob is too small across the brow for Mr Wedge head, you will need to ruin your lovely new bridle with a large insert
Bit... hmmmm a 4.5 or a 5 ? no that is too easy, it has to be 4.3/4 and just try and find some of THEM !!!
Rugs..... and again, 5.6 is too small across the whopping big shoulders and 5.9 drowns the poor wee mite
Saddles.... ah that is the best yet. NOTHING fits an Arab without either bankrupting you or turning you into a stalker with every saddle fitter for miles around , they have been known to weep and run screaming to the hills at the mention of the word Arabian. Best to buy a treeless and be done with all the pain!!!!! :D

PS can i please see your Arab Snowy darling??????:)

Lol Mum's is only half and has different bits of bridle everywhere, she fits a shires cob sized headcollar (in purple obviously) quite nicely though :D

Thanks everyone :) I didn't manage to get out to the tack shop in the end as my poor little cat walked in with a swollen face so I rushed her off to the vets immediately where she was PTS under anaesthetic as the vet found extensive tumours in her mouth and nasal passages. I am still in shock as she had shown no sign up to this point of there being anything wrong. We have buried her behind the garden swings because she used to come over to us with her tail waving like a flag every single night when we were on the swings. Sleep well Lola Lawn Trousers (daft name for a special cat) xx

I'm so sorry to hear this, what a shock that must have been for you. She had a wonderful name, and I'm sure a wonderful life with you too.

Oh Snowy I'm so sorry, I know what it feels like, had the same thing happen to my cat. Take comfort in that you gave her a lovely life, she is now stardust and you can see her every night. Please take care xxx
