Head down with a Myler Combination bit, anyone have the same issue?

Hello,

I've got a Myler combination bit which I use on my horse for xc and hacks. During the trial I found it worked. I have a very strong horse out galloping and xc, and he's now learned with the bit on to put his head down, has anyone else expirenced this? Any advice to overcome this issue?
 
Tbh if he is putting his head down, then at least he will not be wearing the ewe neck so popular among the Appies :) I use a myler ported pelham on my mare, if I use the myler comfort snaffle, then we revert to giraffe mode and run through the bridle. I am trying a mullen mouth hanging cheek for dressage next, in the hope that with the extra stability of the bit, she won't keep on doing it!
 
I am interpreting what you say as that your horse is now evading a contact behind the bit. Are you using one rein or two with this bit? Is it possible to take some pressure off the noseband element, or soften it with bit wrap?

I'm using 1 rein with it :) May try losing the noseband part, see if that makes a difference? :)
