I have a serial self harmer and I’m looking for something to stop him bumping his head in the Wagon while travelling, a lesser version of this would be good. Has anyone any suggestions?

You can buy police horse plexiglass curved visors which will stop him doing that. I also used 25mm pipe lagging taped to a headcollar with a browband added on my head banger.

I hope yours doesn't have the same issues mine had.

He can weave quite badly in the Wagon and if he’s on three legs when I go round the corner, we do have the odd bump ! What issues did yours have? X

I could put him in a stable for the night and find him with a broken eye socket in the morning. Turn him out in a field with no obstructions in it except the boundaries, to find he smashed a cheek bone. He was seen to run straight into a wall when loose in a big barn. We never managed to find out what was wrong, it wasn't his eyesight, but he finally broke so much of his head that he ended up with untreatable trigeminal nerve damage and was PTS to save him any more pain.

£ 25 inclusive of postage, sorry phone changed it. So don't know what postage is but max you pay is £ 25, do find it is better if you use webbing headcollar as leather can make it slip. I like the heacollr my mare has which is a https://harryhall.com/cottage-craft...pUc9rnobc5jco2lKQi6UUkhYaArP6EALw_wcB#224=344

or

weatherbeeta one
It doesn’t give me an option to private message on my phone if you can contact me and let me know how to pay that would be great 😊

Just had a thought. would a hanging treat keep him occupied like a likit tied to the tie ring, or maybe some sedaline just before leaving

He is a very anxious boy, when he is on one with his weaving absolutely nothing distracts him even standing with him feeding treats. Going out somewhere with his Titanium mask on, and a couple of calming cookies he is not too bad, always worse on the way home. If he can see other horses when we arrive somewhere he will weave badly, but if all quiet he will stand. I have spoken to the vet whom was looking into anxiety meds but they where worried how he would be affected when ridden.

When a horse is anxious is raises its head, so fixing the anxiety issues would be better for him than a getting a head protector.

Is he better with a friend travelling with him? Some groundwork, gentle lunge before loading to get him as relaxed as possible would be good. A stretch in walk on the lunge for a couple of minutes is good after travelling too.

A head protector will prevent the skin from being broken when he hit his head, but the force of the impact(s) will still be painful and harmful.

Use a wagon with more head clearance.
