my lad has only ever done the odd head shake for flies in mid summer season but the last 2 rides ive had hes been bothered alot more by flies and today shook his head the whole ride and at one point reared when i tried to get him to stand and wait and he was getting surrounded by flies. ive also noticed hes snorting alot and has a clear/white nasal discharge throughout the day, in or out of the stable. i wonder wether its pollen and flies. im looking for experience from people and how youve managed the problem. i will be speaking to my vet tomorrow as i dont want him rearing, this is the firat time hes ever done it. he just had his teeth saddle and back done so no problems there. annax

My mares always done this, hers is the flies. She today got really wound up by the flies so much so we had to turn around and go home before she hurt herself by getting stupid. She also has the discharge, I've been told it's cus she is snorting so much and getting herself wound up, since she never has it in winter or when in the outdoor/indoor. Hope yours is alright!

I have had problems with this as well, my boy works himself into a right state, tryed a nosenet but this made him worse.
I now have him global herbs polleneeze this has helped a lot and i ride early in the morning unless its a damp dull day when he dosen,t have the problem.
