Head shaking- nose net

My mare has started head shaking and "blowing" her nose in the last 2/3 weeks never happened this time last year

Started turning her out in fly mask with nose which seems to help

Has anyone used one of the nose nets that you can ride in, what kind of difference did it make\?

Any other ideas welcome or supplements to help as she is become unridable
 
Ive used/using one. I used to use one on my old pony worked wonders for him. I am now using one on my mare, although it hasnt stopped her from head shaking, she is a lot better and can concentrate more.
 
I have to use a nose-net on my boy cause he has a tiny bit of allergies to the rape fields near where we hack out.

It doesn't stop him from head-shaking, though I have been reading about horse head-shaking while hacking and sometimes it can stem from them being unfit and getting tired (which I think is what's happening with my boy, his old owner did tell me he hasn't been worked a lot for around a year)

His could also be still coming from the rape fields though so I'm not.
Is there a rape field near you?

If there is you wouldn't have noticed it last eyar because I believe they only come around once every three years in one field.
 
My old event horse was sold to me with one, I didn't realise the difference it made until I took it off. He would be very 'snatchy' without it, especially near hedges so we presumed it was midges.

I would suggest it is definately worth trying.
 
Worked great with my horse when we were stabled right near rape fields that really irritated him while ridden. Pretty much stopped it altogether. Moved to a new location now so hasn't been affected by the pollen, but he does get in a tis with flys so will be using it for that later in the year. They're a bit pricey but you do get 3 in there, but deffo worth it.
