Anybody tried using this shampoo on a SI horse. I have owned my horse for a year now, SI is well under control and she now has a beautiful full tail, scrappy mane that I have re-hogged because it looked naff!

So she is on all the usual additives and has been for a year. SI much better but the skin at the roots of her tail is still grossly scurvy - like the worst attack of dandruff ever! But she doesnt seem at all itchy there as she used to be:o

I had been washing her tail in Botannicas wash but TBH it hasnt helped with this at all, has anyone tried using Head and Shoulders, does it help, do you think it might be an irritant at all?

thankyou!:)

I use it - but I don't have anything with SI. I use it on our pony, as she also gets really scurfy, and it works a treat on her.

I originally used it on a horse that had all the signs of SI, but I was told over and over hat he didn't have SI - and it did seem to help him a bit.

However, I do seem to recall that there is something in H&S that apparently can make animals ill - but I have used it regularly on various horses over the last 10 years to no I'll effect. I do make it up in a fairly weak solution in a bucket of warm water, and rinse well though.

I use polytar a coal tar shampoo for humans for dandruff etc. So I don't see why it wouldn't work.
