My head is spinning, still. Honestly, I am sure it shouldn't be this hard to get my head round. Anyway, since Hermans vet visit on Friday (thread here: http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=449577 ) I've been Thinking.

As one of the possible diagnosises (sp?!) is Wobblers/spinal compression, today I had a bit of a lightbulb moment while walking Muttley this morning. I remember once (possibly in one of my numerous posts about recall) Cave Canem said something along the lines of 'don't walk him on a lunge line off a head collar; you'll break his neck'. Now, we've never walked him on his headcollar with the lunge line, but he does tend to lunge and pull and bounce when there's something he wants to see on the normal lead/headcollar combi.

He isn't pulling so much now, but it has coincided with the pacing getting worse. He does still pull though and before he got worse (still with me?) was quite capable of pulling me over, even with the headcollar. I am not a small person - I am tall and I have a large amount of weight behind me.

So what I'm basically saying is.... Yes, the headcollar helped me walk him to start with, but do we think it may have contributed to ...whatever it is? I know, I know, I know, a peice of string question but I am inclined not to walk him off the headcollar again. Would a Canny Collar be better (his current headcollar is a Dogmatic) do we think or maybe a halti harness?

Or am I just thinking too much about this?

I can see your logic and like you I would leave no stone unturned in the search for answers.

I use a canny collar on my Dobes and whilst its not problem free it gave me more control when Diesel was neutered and had to be on lead exercise. The Canny collar gives you control from on high so to speak much like riding a horse in a benice control headcollar. That means less stress on the dogs head, neck and does appear to be kinder.

If I was you I would speak to my vet before you use this because you dont wont to make the situation any worse and they may offer alternatives. Better to be safe than sorry.

Good luck with your dog.
