Has anybody tried the Equine America Shaker Gard supplement? Or the Capstar (related to headshaking being caused by vaccinations)? I'd be really interested to hear first hand reports before I shell out for either expensive additive...Thanks.

i tried Capstar. loads of complicated instructions etc, i followed them to the letter, at one point it seemed to be making a big difference, but then i followed more instructions (they would email them after every report from me) and their instructions contained a typo - their different solutions are called A, B, C etc etc, and they put the wrong letter - and after i followed the instructions and changed the solution he was on, he worsened again, and we could never repeat the improvement... which might, of course, have been caused by something completely different anyway.
they did give a full refund though, as promised, after a minor battle.

I have had a head shaker. I think this problem is increasing sadly. I found that nothing made a difference to her other than a nose net which made her rideable, just, in the summer. This product was not around when I was riding her so I have no knowledge but I do hope you find something that works for you. It is a horrible thing.

I second nosenets too and you can pick them up pretty cheaply on ebay too.
A good friend of mine, ex trainer recommended them as they used to have a racehorse that would pull and shake its head. They tried in a nose net and voila it brought the headshaking under control and the horse went on to win the race wearing a first time nosenet in a race.

My boy headshakes in summer, i think he has an intolerance to flies and an allergy to pollen, rather than an invasion. He is ridden in a nosenet, but i'd be interested to hear of anything else for headshakers....
