My friend has a horse who is a head shaker. She only head shakes at certain times, not all the time. Mostly when the sun is out etc. She had taken her to the vets to be tested and they said that they could only suggest that it was something (possibly the sun) irritating her eyes!
Has anyone had this problem or know of anyone, so as they can share their advice?
Many thanks in advance.

I have a head shaker so I know how your friend feels. This is an interesting thread

I use a equilibrium muzzle which does help the symptoms but doesn't get rid totally. She tends to snort, throw her head round and stamp her legs to try to get to her nose, if its raining she can be quite unerving (sp) to ride. Some people on other forums have recommended MSM or a magnesium supplement but have not tried it yet myself.
Has your friend tried a full face fly mask as its maybe sun related?

Yep - a freind's pony has had to be retired because of it's headshaking - caused by light. Not sure of any details but it is possible that the sunlight is causing the headshaking. I would ask for a second opinion.
