While out on a walk this afternoon Daxy suddenly shook her head several times, more than ten times in a row, then sat down to have a good scratch at her right ear. Didn't think any more of it as she stopped after that. Fast forward several hours and she's now doing the same again every few minutes, and also periodically sticking her foot down her lughole and looking perplexed. :o

I've stuck a pen torch down there and I can't see anything, the ear is lovely and pink and clean. Any ideas or are we going for a record number of vet visits this year?

I'd give it a good flush out with ear cleaner and see if that helps. She might have something in there, sounds like it anyway.

Or she may have been stung? Henry had a dozy bee crawling round in his fur one morning this week, took quite some work to flick the stupid little thing off, and he was shaking his head about and looking perplexed by it all!

See, I was scared to try and flush it out in case it's a grass seed or something and I just send it down further. Probably worth a go though to save me another bloody vet visit!

I don't think she's been stung as she didn't object to me sticking both torch and finger down her big lugs so I don't think it's sore. Not so much as a scrap of wax down there, no sign of mites or anything...

My old ridgey was stung in her ear once, she itched and scrathed at it untill it was raw..... then got an infection.

That was 2 call out from the vet in the space of a week!

Argh, don't say that! Since she arrived in February we've had:

Spaying, one visit for consult
One for operation
One for post-op check
Emergency visit for dislocated hip
Follow-up visit
Follow-up visit/physio session
Emergency visit for raisin ingestion

She's due her first booster anytime in October, at least I can try and combine them if she's still shaking it tomorrow. :o
