Daisy had a fall off her pony about a month ago and landed on her head and shoulder...... Then on wednesday she was running around with her pony plating games and did not notice I had shut one part of the field off.

She went full pelt into the gate at such a force that her little head took the full force and sent her back onto her poor little head and neck again :(

Took her to A&E and 5 hours later they said her neck was in spazen SP

My friends husband is a chiropractor, and he offered her a free session today, so took her along thinking nothing serious would be found... How wrong :( .....

We are not sure ( she is 5) but she may have a genetic curve of the spine, he does not know yet if the fall caused it or weather she was born with it, but he asked that when she rides is she to one side and finds it difficult to hold the reins equally, the answer is yes :(

We find out more tomorrow, so just venting and wanting good vibes.

Sorry long, but I am quite upset especially as she has shown no signs of this before.

Wine and cake to all xxxx

When i was that age i went over the handle bars of my bike. Ended up in hospital for a couple of days. Years later went to a Chiropractor who found all my back and neck problems dated back to that accident. So you are doing the best getting it sorted now. Much better than leaving things hoping they get better. Good luck x

poor wee soul!! I take it you mean her neck had gone into spasm? did they give her anything to relax the muscle?
If it were me I would take her to the doc and ask for her to be referred to a specialist, I don't think a chiro can tell if a condition is genetic. I think i would be looking to find out all i could about what is going on with her and the best way to rectify it.
You must be so worried about her. Hope she feels better soon. x (have a wee glass of something to settle your nerves)

this, exactly... i'd take her back to A&E and get x-rays done if they haven't been done already.
big vibes, hope she's right as rain very soon.

Yes, neck is in spasm, the hospital just said to give her calpol, and chiropractor has known her since she was 2 weeks old, I do hope he is wrong, on the Plus side she has always been very sporty and active, deffiantly not like me :)

Just want to get tomorrows appointment over with so we know where we stand .

Thanks all that have wished us luck xxxxx

(((Hugs)))) for your little girl, hope she's better soon.

I would be wary of a medical diagnosis from a chiro, take her to your GP and ask for a referral if they think it's necessary.

Oh goodness. Poor little girl. What a horrid injury to have so young. It is the painful sort for any adult, but a child... my heart goes out to her. Healing vibes for Daisy, and a big fat hug for you. xx

poor wee soul, I had a spasm in my neck earlier this year and it was agony, I couldnt move!

I also would be very wary of a diagnosis from a chiro and would wonder why, having been to hospital and presumably xrayed, they didnt pick up on any abnormalities then?

Hope she feels better really soon

Hope Little One feels better really soon!

On the issue of the genetic curve in the spine, I was diagnosed with a rather severe thoracic scoliosis at 14. I'm now 22 and after having partial spinal fusion surgery at 17, I have to say that I have absolutely no qualms and would do it all again. 6 days in hospital, 4 weeks off school and 4 months off of riding and everything is 100% a-ok! The orthopaedic surgeons are really fantastic and sometimes also use braces for the less severe curves. I haven't got any problems or limitations and routinely forget that i've had anything done. It's not all doom and gloom, I promise! :)

Feel free to PM me if you want more information or anything!

Oh hunny. Hugs. There's nothing worse than seeing one's child in pain.

I ditto the others. Get her back to the hospital for x-rays and scans. When I broke my back the A&E doctor nearly didn't send me for an x-ray as she didn't believe it was broken. Short story is that it was, so I'm glad she did.

I hope your wee lass is okay.

If it was me I would lay it on really thick about the severity of the two incidents and insist on an xray. Hype up the level of pain you tell them she has experienced.

The NHS although wonderful most of the time, they can also have a tendency to only react if a parent is hyper in their face.

I vividly remember sitting in A&E for 5 hours with my daughter with a very nasty blistered rash all over her face when everyone else was seen around her. It wasn't until I eventually grabbed a nurse and practically shook her gently by the neck that they admitted she should have been seen hours ago due to it being a child with a severe allergic reaction!

Your little girl should NEVER have sat in A&E for five hours with a suspected neck injury!

Hi all and thanks for the well wishes .

She has had a pretty intensive hour of chiro, which she was very good about and was giggling ad well, bless she was very brave.

Darren who has known her since she was weeks old even said he could bot believe what he found as she has shown no classic signs other than the riding to one side, which has been annoying me, I feel really bad now as she clearly could not help it.

He is sure that we can bring her legs and shoulders into line, and she has excersises which she had to do twice a day, but it may not be a long term thing.

We just have to see.

On the absolute plus side, she is saying that she feels really ' rubbery' so I take that to mean she has loosened up :)

We don't think it is a curvature of the spine more that her brain is out of sync with the spine, and with time we can hopefully make the two talk to each other properly.

Thanks again, and I am just glad we found it soo early on before any real damage was done, so a fall may sometimes is a good thing xxx

Good news daisy do. Im glad its not a bony problem more things pulled out of alighnment, she is very young so things wont be "set" for want of a better word. Im glad shes feeling better now, and now you know the issue is there, you can keep an eye on it as she grows

So glad she's feeling better.

there are all sorts of chiropractors out there. But some are very highly, university qualified and really know what they are on about.

I had an incredibly bad back as a teenager. Saw every specialist/ consultant/ physio and had every test and scan going. The final result was they told me I had inflamation in my pelvis. Take these tablets. I'm alergic to asprin so had never taken anti-inflams before a new one came on the market. I took them for a few years, all seemed ok. Then they got withdrawn because some fat americans (I'm NOT joking!) blamed them for them having heart attacks. My back pain came back.... only thing doc could tell me to do was try a chiro. Did some research and got a uni qualified one, not an evening course one(!) and really fell on my feet by finding an internationally renowned one who goes around the world lecturing. Did a thorough assessment and said I had an assymetric pelvis. I could actually see it in the mirror, one of my hips was significantly higher than the other and I have always been more comfortable standing on one leg than the other. Over the last 7 years I have seen him on a regular basis and I NEVER have back pain, no tablets, nothing. It is never something that is going to be 100% cured, my body wants to hold itself wonky. But it's manageable.

So my view is, if you have a good chiro, sometimes they see things that doctors don't!

Poor Daisy (((((Healing Vibes))))) I'm glad you have faith in the chiro - they are amazing and for those that are worried - they do take Xrays before doing any work.

My back was damaged at 15yrs old when a pony crashed at speed on tarmac - bolting from a bus - without the chiro I would have been in a wheelchair by now.

He is very good, and university trained, and ax he has known her for soo long, really trust him to do what is right and correct.

He got het to stand like a soldier and it was then very obvious, one leg bent to counteract the short leg by at least and inch and one shoulder turning in doing the same, so very obvious.

Thankyou all again and hopefully now it will onwards and upwards :) x

Oh bless her heart hope she continues to carry on getting better kids are just so resiliant (sp) to things and fingers crossed that the back issues sort themselves out really soon.

sending more healing vibes to her (((((( ))))))))
