Poor Baron isnt well
He left his feed Monday morning and I didnt think too much of it as my friend had made it the morning before. But Monday night he left his tea aswell
Now Baron NEVER leaves any food. So took his temp which was just over 40deg
Then yesterday morning he left his breakfast (although did manage the 3 carrots off the top), had not drunk any water or touched his hay. His temp was still up. He also has a lump under his head, underside of his neck swollen and is not at all himself. He just stands facing the wall.
I suspect strangles as we have had it on our yard (we thought we had just got over the last of it). Just waiting for vet to call me back to see if he will give me some bute to reduce the pain and swelling in his throat so he can at least eat.
I feel so sorry for him, he has already been in for 7 weeks, 4 or which due to a cut on his leg which has just healed and I had planned to put him out yesterday.
I am hoping this is the worst of it coming out and that he has had it a few weeks already without me noticing any symptoms. Or that its not strangles at all. Vets are not swabbing to test them now as there is no point as it will become pretty obvious within the next few days if it is.
Please send him big hugs and healing vibes, I hate to see him ill.
