My poor Whippet Kylie got attcked by one of my GSD's today, they have lived together for 4 years and i see no reason for the outburst, Kylie only popped out for a wee and they had been running together this morning in the woods.

Kylie is now at my vets being xrayed for a brocken leg, brocken nose and brocken tooth!! She has 8 puppies here at home (5 weeks old now) I am so upset and worried for her

Hope everything works out OK for Kylie. I know you say it is out of the blue, we had two females who started to fight and I know how horrible it is xxx

On a more positive note, one of my friend's puppies had an horrific facial mauling a few months ago, but you'd never known it had happened to look at him now, bold as brass and just a few faint scars.

Healing vibes by the bucketful. She's beautiful. This happened to our lurcher a few years ago. She caught her foot in my coat pocket and yelped and the other two dogs - they had all grown up together as puppies - just turned on her and really dug into her. It was like a primeval response to a wounded animal. We had to be careful for a little time after but then they settled down again. Hope the puppies are ok.

How awful for you and her.
My rottie bitch started attacking my rr bitch in June last year and the attacks carried on for approx 6 months. Poor Matty never retaliated and ended up at the vets for stitches on 2 occasions. As I did not want to rehome the rottie I bought a remote training collar. 3 months on, fingers crossed, we are back to normal.
Might be worth investing in one. I only needed to actually use it twice.
Hope Kylie is back home and on the mend soon.

Sending loads of healing vibes to Kylie. Possibly the fact that she has a litter was the underlying cause of the attack. In my experience bitches can often be funny with each other around the time of seasons and when in whelp/rearing a litter. Unfortunately it doesn't take much for something to set them off. I hopeKylie is soon bck home with you.

Vet has called, she has two breaks but they are clean and he thinks a splint for 6 weeks will fix it but getting a 2nd opion from the surgeon tonight/morning. Her nose isnt broke her front has done full circle and facing backwards so need removing and he has removed the brocken canine. They will operate in morning on front teeth, but she is heavily sedated now and wearing a Robertjones bandage and is on a drip. Fingers crossed she will be ok, i found my large crate out and prepared it with a cosy bed for her, pups will have to be fully weaned now but at least i havnt lost my little girl or for her sake she hopefully wont lose her leg, i just pray it heals

Thanks hun, i did wonder the same, both have been fine in the past with previous litters and upto now with this one but who knows with these bitches!

{{{Vibes}}} to Kylie, fingers crossed you soon have her home again. Though I haven't experienced it first hand, I've heard credible stories about bitches turning against each other, where it out of the blue went straight into the real thing. Like what Hacking Hack, EllieP, Mattilda and Murphys Minder have described.

{{{Hugs}}} to you Springfallstud, it must have been a shock.

I hope she recovers soon, both from the ordeal and the injuries, nothing worse then bitches fighting, even worse, when one is a breed so easily hurt

I have come across some gsd's that have been pretty rutheless in the bitch fighting stakes, not nice.

Thankyou for asking, she is home now, last night wasnt good she spent most of it whining, i think partly feeling out of sorts from the op drugs and the need to be with her puppies

This morning she is much more relaxed and sleeping alot, heres a couple of pic's from last night

Aaw poor girl, she does look battle scarred

She looks quite full of milk too which must be uncomfy, hopefully she will dry up quite quickly now they are not feeding from her. How are the pups coping without mum?
