My wonderful one-eyed Sunny's remaining eye has taken a funny turn for the worse. Vets been and we're hoping it is just one of those things but after what he went through with the other eye, I'm constantly paraniod about it. He's on 5 days of bute, antibiotics and eye drops just to cover all bases. Still puffy today though. Angel, my rescued and ragwort damaged girl is fine but I just get the shivers when health things start cropping up.... And finally my special mog Spencer - they broke the mold when they made him - has just had a brush with death when I didn't realise his bladder had totally blocked. He's now got some degree of permanent kidney damage and is still in cat hospital with an assortment of tubes attached. I'm feeling sad and weepy and mortal and in one of those "all things come to dust" moods. Anyone got any spare hugs?

All I can say is, you poor thing. What an absolute nightmare. I know how gutting it is when your animal(s) are ill.

I hope everything turns out ok for you and yours.

Oh my goodness poor you, that is really too much. I have everything crossed for you and your animal friends. They are all very lucky to have you as their owner!!

Is Angel a dear little aged grey pony? Forgive me for asking, but there was a thread on another forum some while back about an ancient little grey pony who had spent two years abandoned on a mountain in Wales and she was rescued by a well wisher who took her to her friend's house. Another two ponies who had been abandoned at the same time had died and Angel was the sole survivor.

Gut wrenching but heart warming story.

Thanks all. It really helps. Rueysmum - the Angel you knew about sounds lovely but she isn't my Angel. My Angel is a coloured Gypsy cob. When she first came she was 14.1 of near dead, skinny, poisoned horse. Now she is 14.2 of fat attitude!!! Lol!!! I have no idea what she's ever learnt over the years so she's going away for 6 weeks to be mouthed and lightly backed and to learn some lessons like how to accept having her beard and feathers trimmed without knocking her mother out and how NOT to try to kill the vet when she gives you an injection!!! It's wonderful coz no-one knew if she would survive the next few days when she first arrived! She still has massive ragwort poisoning but I've got her on a diet and management routine that supports her and has allowed her to - erm - develop, ie get fat and get attitudinal!!!

Another Angel well deserving of her name though! Good on you. It doesn't sound like she is quite repaying you in full yet though, but I'm sure it will dawn on her by the end that she has to show a little bit of gratitude!

The Angel that I read about on the other forum was rescued in Carmarthenshire I think from a mountain where she had been abandoned to fend for herself. When she was rescued, two years later, she was all skin and bones and the vet who was called reckoned she was at least in her 30s. How sad is that? She is only about 12 hands or so and was probably a child's pony. She whickered to her rescuers as they led her off the mountain with the aid of a bucket of food.

Made me cry!

Good luck with all your ailing pets. They are very lucky to have you!

Oh that poor little mite! I read somewhere that every horse deserves to be loved by a little girl at some point in their life but they don't then deserve to be abandoned and starving on a mountainside. My Angel is a sweetie deep down but I think she has trouble making deep friendships - probably coz of the horrors she suffered before she came to me. But we've had our moments. She saved my life the day after I went with the S Wales Operation Esther convoy to the Horse Trust and met some of the rescued ponies in the worst condition. When I went up to our yard the next day I was so weepy and distressed at what SOME people do to horses and Angel picked up on my mood and she was quiet and sweet and snuggly just when I needed to hug a loved horse. Mind you, the next day she was having none of it and the look in her eye clearly said Oi! Don't milk it sister! Lol!

Barb, dont worry - Im watching Sunny like a hawk and I know he will be fine, trust me

Spencer pussy had my strongest ever healing vibes, so I know he will also be ok.

Rueysmum - Angel the little grey pony is absolutely fine. My friend from over the mountain, known on here as Deb_h rescued her and passed her to a friend. Little Angel is doing very well. If you want any more info, please PM Deb who is always happy to talk about her neds
