got to do a presentation on health and safety about the horses head

but the only dangers of the horses head i can think of are:

the horse can bite you (odviously)
the horse can head butt you

so can anyone else think of anything?

when the horse is having his teeth done and has the big metal gag on, he is particularly dangerous. iirc a vet (or maybe equine dentist) died quite a few years ago when he was doing a horse's teeth and the horse swung his head hard and hit the man on the head.

find out what the head weighs, i think you'd be surprised. take into account that it's solid bone, and it can be very dangerous, because they can move it so fast. i have a mare who, when she gets upset (e.g. having teeth done, having eye drops, being wormed), uses her head like a weapon, flinging it around to hit you. i'd almost rather she kicked, i think!

Thinking more about the horse--bang on his poll highly dangerous for him!!!

Tying up
Putting bridle on
Giving worm dose
As above eye drops
Teeth rasping

Those old-fashioned bucket muzzles - they can do some serious harm if they turn their head and hit you with them!!!

kat.. Gem did her presentation on it last year! (only a min one)
It is health and safety with regard to the human being not the horse.

We got ted in the cove building theatre and she did..

Biting.. Head butting and how the horses facial features can be used to anticipate actions.
