Does anyone know any websites listing/featuring top SJ riders from this period?
Met a certain Paul Wier when on holiday this week, found him in a little backstreet cafe in a little town in Austria!
What a small world!
It was a cute little cafe ( that he now owns/runs, he does a mean baileys hot chocolate!) and the walls were covered in pictures of him SJ at international comps between 1960 and 80.
Could not find out all that much from him cos he spoke little english! But he said that he also did some eventing.
All I can find on google is that he is now a international course designer?? (if its the same guy!)

Anyway I just wanted to find out a bit more about him, in his photos he looks a really superb rider-fab style over a fence!

Yes , - just looked in a copy of The Horseman's Year 1965 . No pics though .

He's listed as Captain P Weier of Switzerland , so presumably the same person ? He was well placed at Aachen in 1964 , riding a horse called Satan 111 !

Hope this helps .

Paul Weier was a distinguished Swiss show jumper in the 1960s & 70s. He went on to be an even more successful international course designer.

Forgot to say that you can find his Olympic, European & World Championship record at www.sja.it This is a really useful website for tracing the records of contemporary riders, horses and results from shows.

Back issues of L'Annee Hippique will have photos.

He married another Swiss international Rider, Monica Bachmann.
