heart murmurs and sedation??

my horse has a grade 1 heart murmur and is due to have an operation and go under heavy sedation. i was wondering if the sedative will have an effect on his heart or will the murmur cause problems while he is sedated?
any help will be appreciated

It will reduce blood pressure, but as long as the vet is aware they should be able to deal with it.

My old mare has had a heart murmur for years & was sedated the other day to clean a wound. She was fine & she's 35.

A large proportion of people cannot even hear a grade 1 murmur they are so quiet, and they are considered fairly insignificant, and not a reflection of any serious abnormality in the heart. In fact quiet murmurs can occur because a haorse is fit and the heart is big. I wouldn't worry at all.
