There is poor blind elderly staffie boy that was chucked away by his owners. The pound rescue has just managed to secure him a rescue place for assesement (he was due to be put down on the 23rd July) but it is so upsetting. He is a very pretty little red boy. Some people are just beyond words.

I have no idea what taking on a blind dog entails or how needy they would be/picked on by other dogs and would be interested to hear what more experienced dog woners would say. I freely admit part of the reason he really got to me is that he is very similiar looks wise to my little staffie boy..

Now safe if it's this one :)

ets blind dogs stress the owners out more than the dog itself, watching for potential problems e.g. steps/hazards etc, other dogs seem disinterested in general, maybe as the blind dogs run around less, but I guess this could vary by dog. They can still sniff an awful lot and enjoy life.

Yes its the same dog ( was sent to me on FB) and I have asked where he has gone to see if I can help or find someone. I am halfway through possibly taking a 3rd staffie in as it is so realistically not sure I can help. No 3 has passed the "meet at the yard" on 1 visit and then "meet at home" for no 2 and is now due to come back to stay for a week. I will put the word out though and thank you very much for the information. I have an 11 year old bitch (fully active), 5 year old (active but won't leave the house for walks - elbow displaysia and a long memory) so he needs to be driven out and then have short walks and possibly a 10 month bitch, (active and possibly looks like she could come out on hacks with me). Dogs also spend a lot of time up the yard with me.

The exact reason I went to a staffie rescue looking for an older discarded staffie (ok ended up with a suitable younger one :o)

It still bugs me that people just kick them out when they have had enough/can't be bothered

At least this old man has a rescue place just hope he now finds a forever home :)
