The vet is out thursday but im scarying myself by googling all sorts!

My boy has heat in both hind cannon bones, both at the front of his leg and it seems to disappear when you get to his fetlock and hock so its quite centrally obvious.
He has got mud fever which i am battling with and it is a little sore as he will snatch his legs when im applying cream, hes in at night but unfort his legs swell and he loses his marbles if kept in any longer than overnight so he is plastered in cream before going out by day although with the weather as it is most of the mud has frozen.

I cant do a proper lameness workup because of the snow and ice but he runs out to the field with no problems (although a little stiff at first) and trots up the grass to the stable sound.

Is this is a clear case of the mudfever causing the heat or is there a chance its something else?

Just my luck!
