hi everyone my horse annie has had a warm leg for a few weeks now. it has never been painful and she’s never been lame on it. for the past 3 days it was the same cool temperature as the rest of the leg, but today it is warm again. before it cooled down, it was warm from just below the hock to just above the fetlock, today it is only warm just below the hock and about half way down the lower leg. it is the inside of her right hind, and there is a healing wound (scabbed over) on that leg but it is not infected. the leg is slightly thicker than the others but this is due to having an infection a few months ago, but this makes it hard to find the root of the problem due to not being able to see any tendons/ligaments under the skin. both the farrier and vet dismissed it, but i’m wondering if i should get a second opinion. the heat is near a blood vessel but the same blood vessel on the other hind leg isn’t warm at all. it’s just getting a bit frustrating at this point because i have no clue what is wrong with her!

I wouldn't worry too much to be honest. Some horses have a warm leg compared to the others. You say she had an infection in that leg before - maybe there is still something in there that shouldn't be and the body is fighting it. Increased blood flow usually means there is an injury/healing. Unless the horse goes super lame or the leg blows up like a balloon I wouldn't be worried just keep an eye on it.
