Heather Moffett Saddle.

Does anyone have any experiences of these saddles, good or bad?

A friend of mine is considering having one for her mare who has undergone back treatment for the last year at Avonvale Vets, and is concerned about putting a conventional saddle back on the pony.

I don't, but I have two friends who have them, and they love them. One has a ex-racehorse, he moves very nicely in it, put him back in a (correctly fitted) 'normal' saddle, and he really struggles walking down hills.

Love my Vogue, the comfiest saddle ever, and it helps me sit in a good position.

Tried a Vogue and a Phoenix; didn't feel very secure in them at all - and couldn't walk properly for days after!

Loved my Phoenix & my cob loved it too. Although I sadly had to give up riding - so my saddle is for sale!

Love my fheonix and so does my horse! He finds it hard going down hills in a treed saddle and he hates anything restricting his shoulders so the HM works wonders for his comfort, freedom and movement.

The stirrup bars are further back so that takes some getting used to and there are many people that have ridden in mine and just can't ride in it. If you rely on a treed saddle for support and to keep you in the saddle then you will find the HM quite hard to ride in and will feel very insecure. Best would be to try one if you know someone that has one to borrow.

My friend had the Phoenix and now has the vogue, which I prefer, although they do take some getting used to. Having said that, I do feel very secure on her flighty mare when she has a 'moment'!

Thank you all for your input. I will pass on your thoughts to my friend. I believe you can 'hire' a Moffett saddle to try before you buy, so to speak, so maybe this would be worth doing to make sure she can adjust to the different style.

Oh very green with envy!! I want one of the new ones Do let us know how you get on with it.

I will have to wait till they come out for sale for a GP one and if money and GP one works out then will get a dressage one too.

thought the Vogue bar far the nicest treeless I have ridden in (against a Cheyenne and an Ansur) but not on my horse. I ride in a Wow so stirrup bars not an issue (actually hate more forward set bars now). would love to try her new treed version.
