Heather Moffett seat saver

I've got one. My saddle is hard as rock so use it for hacking. Comfy enough, much squishier than a fleecey model but wouldn't say it would help back pain.

I got mine for £4 second hand at an auction - bargain! :)

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! Well, I think so, anyway! I suppose it depends what sort of back pain you have? I have arthritis and it definitely helps reduce concussion, or perhaps I've just got a bouncy one?

I think it has 2 benefits
1. it's softer for the seat bones
2. it narrows the seat of a wide saddle.

The disadvantages are it perches you a little bit higher over the saddle or the horse but that probably wouldn't matter with a deep saddle. In my case, I had to punch more holes in my stirrup leathers as I was already on the shortest hole.

It didn't help my back Pain but I don't think HM claims that it does. She used it to help out with bursitis.

It's definitely soft and comfy.

I have one for lower back pain, mind you my saddle is hard so it cushions me and also I find it sticks me arse down good and proper and I find also the bendy stirrups also help from concussion:)

I totally agree with this. I feel a little bit higher in the saddle too :)

I didnt like mine. dont know about back pain but it made me feel too "perched" so I sold it on and got a nice Lemieux sheepskin one instead. plenty of people rave about them though.

Brilliant - never rode without mine till I got a Dream team saddle. It helped me feel much more secure in the saddle as well as more comfortable, but maybe some help with your position would help with back pain? Not having seen you ride I can't judge, just a suggestion.

Im using one at the moment, saved my bits from being rubbed :eek::o. I was really suffering after years of being fine in the same saddle and tried this as a last resort. Its made my narrow twist saddle feel wider which I like and have now ordered a new saddle. Only problem is in cold temperatures it goes hard as its memory foam. It does warm up quite quickly though.
It hasnt helped my bad back one bit though:(

I used to use one a while ago with my OH's old hunting saddle which was 18" and I got a bit lost in it, but loved it so much, so comfy and fitted my horse, so by using seat saver it meant I sat square in the middle. I had lower back pain and my knees can ache (I have M.E so muscles don't work like wot they should sometimes) and definitely prolonged my time in the saddle before these would kick in. Hope this helps :)

Yeah, love mine too, feel much more secure in the saddle as I seem to stick to the suede better than leather, also more comfortable!

I have one, and love it! I use it for long hacks and jumping at home, and its soo comfy, and i slide about alot in the saddle at the moment (will be getting lessons soon) but it helps keeps my bum secure, and has stopped me from sliding over the top a couple of times :o

I wouldnt know about whether it helps back pain at all, but after a long hack i sometimes feel abit stiff, and when i use it, my back is pretty much fine!

depends where the back pain is, I have problems with the very lower part of my back, which when it gets really stiff means I get quite sore at the bottom of my spine/cocyxx area. I find the seatsaver more comfortable and in turn it easier for me to stay more relaxed and not to tense up so I don't get into that vicious circle.

They do mean you feel a bit further from the horse though I actually think you get used to it. I stopped using mine when I got my new saddle which is much comfier than old but have found it better to put it back on again. ... it's now 13 years old!
