I'm looking for a decent pair of heavy duty clippers that will be robust enough for a large yard, but I'm getting somewhat square eyed going through the vast range that seem available.
I need a robust pair, but ones that aren't too heavy or big (I've only got small hands...).
Any suggestions?

Have a look on the peasridge.co.uk (think that is right) sight. they do loads of comparisons. I have the Premier 3000 from them, based on the Hauptner 2000 but supposedly better and designed for heavy work load. Find them nicer to hold than the Lister Neon/Lazer.

I have the Premier 3000, from the advice from beaconhorse. They are brilliant, quiet, lightweight and can also take Lister blades. I had the Premier blades swapped for the Lister Fine blades for an extra £5. I got mine from Farmcare UK- excellent company. I ordered them Friday afternoon and they came on Saturday morning at 9!!! Couldn't believe it. I've used the clippers 3 times and they never over heat. Plus they are the same price a Lister Neons (which are only medium duty!). Heres the link-

I have the hauptner 2000 clippers and am so far very pleased with them. Bought mine off farmcare uk too, as they seemed to be doing them a lot cheaper than anywhere else!

Yep Million dollar is right. I did an awful lot of research and found the premier 3000 to be the best. I decided to swap the blades for lister ones as they are slightly superior and wow must say am really pleased. Have done about 6 horses so far and my own 3 times. Well impressed.

The only time they over heat is if you have the tension too tight
