i dont have a heavy but was talking to my farrier about this the other day, he usually charges £70 for a full set but was saying he charges £80 for heavys if he can buy the shoes and £90 if he needs to make them himself
Used to cost 90 to shoe the 17.1 shire with dinner plate feet. But they were shocking feet and took a lot of work. I know he had got cheaper when he got on top of them but the owners used another rubbish farrier who messed 6 months work up so it went back up :/
In 2007, I had my 18h1" Shire mare (dinner plate sized feet) shod for showing. My farrier made stunning bevelled shoes for £150. Well worth it...she went Best Shod Shire at Leics Show, and Best Shod Heavy at East of England.
