Not sure if I am extremely mean but we have a yellow warning for rain forecast for tonight and tomorrow, my horses go out overnight and in during the day. More than half actually nearly all of the horses at the yard (that go out through the day) are staying in today due to the rain.. I had 0 intentions of keeping my guys in tonight, there is no shelter in the field but they have their rain sheets and it's not exactly cold.
I am starting to doubt my decision as maybe I am not realizing how bad it's going to be, or maybe I have stopped being soft lol

My two will be out. Old horse will have a light rug on.
They will be fine, they have lots of shelter and places to tuck in together if they get fed up.

The rain hasn't started here yet and weather app keeps pushing time back lol so hopefully doesn't come! Our fields could be doing with some rain although maybe not as much as some of you have had !!

Rain was much worse here last night than had originally been forecast and all mine were out unrugged but with thick hedges round the field. When I went to catch them in this morning none of them were interested in coming in and I had to walk across the field to catch them - they standing out in the middle of it. Normally they come to the gate when I go to get them in.

I will put them out again tonight unrugged but into a different field which has a five bay barn that they can go into if they want. The rain does seem to be forecast to be much lighter than what we had last night.

My horse comes in at night and out during the day all year round, I am lucky he is fine on his own which is just as well as the other folk at our place think a drop of rain will melt their horses.

He is half shire x cob he has been out since 6 this morning and just checked, it is chucking down, he is in the middle of the field head down grazing, no rug he will come in teatime for the night. The others are all in am I been a bad mother ?

Think not ;)

We're in the Amber warning area.
My horse absolutely does not need a rug. He is waterproof, healthy, a good weight and could do with a wash. There is no shelter in his paddock because he is not out 24/7.

He is wearing a turnout because he is a sulky baby dinosaur who becomes very grumpy of left out in the rain.

Every horse is different. I wish I could leave him out naked but it makes him unhappy.

Not a lot of shelter in his current field and I’m now wishing I had chucked a lightweight rug on Brads but he’s happily grazing in the middle of the field and not taking any notice of the rain.

Our weather warning has been upgraded from yellow to Amber for the rest of today. The Appaloosa came in for hay shivering this morning. She could have accessed the shelter but preferred to stay up in the summer field eating grass. Cob was fine but the sugar has upset her skin again! They are shut back onto winter grass for now. At least that will stop them cutting up the fresh stuff.

Just driven through a biblical rainstorm, mine are in during the day and usually back out at 2pm but I’m going to keep them in a little longer so I can rug overnight.

Mine were out last night with rain sheets on but I bought them in this morning for a break. Turned them back out at 2pm and if it's still raining i'll bring them in before dark just to save the field.
rain forecast here everyday for the next 10 days.

I went with out! They are out rugged although will probably soak right through. The rain isn’t as bad as I thought and defo not biblical, heavy and constant but not awful.
We are still a yellow warning and is due to lighten up during the night. Fingers crossed

My fields look like they do in January we have had over 24 hours of consistent rain some really heavy, so sick of it now we just don't seem to have a bit of rain it's just non stop even in summer I mean it's nearly June 😒

Mine have got no fill turnouts on Arabi has literally no coat and hates the rain and Louis has cushings so I don't like him to get soaked through as his clipped all year.

Mine came in last night at about 7pm and stayed in until 4pm today when I put them back out when there was a break in the rain. They were happy to get back out though - the two geldings have just had a good shelter put in their field too although they are scared of it 😂😂

Mine were all shivering! Brought the poor mites in as I’m a push over! Although couldn’t really just shove fresh rugs on as they were soaked to the bone - some re proofing needed me thinks!

Mine is on his own at the moment and can do stable, hard standing or field. He’s got his summer coat and no rugs. He’s chosen to be out all day.

All of mine were shivering at the end of the day today despite having Lightweight turnouts on as they had soaked through 😭
I had to put their winter rugs back on for tonight yo warm them all up. I don't like to let mine get shivery in the first place so felt terrible. Although 2 of them have a huge shelter to use that they hadn't gone into! I haven't put them in as rain isn't as heavy now and they should be warm enough in their heavier weight rugs

Mine are out as we recently moved and the stables won’t be ready until next month. However, in any case they would have stayed out. Had to postpone some hock injections though as both I and the vet decided it would be best to do them when it stops raining as the horse will have to stay out in a small pen instead of box rest

Old Horse and his herd mates are now back in their lightweight rugs, having been without them last week. Out in the day, in at night.
