Has anyone else not had to use their heavy weights yet this winter?

Mine are still toasty warm under their mediums! which I really annoying as I bought a brand new heavy for my boy as he'd out grown his 6'3 from last winter! so I got him a 6'6 in the summer sale from Equestrian Clearance but I've just had to buy him a new 6'9 medium.

so I don't know if the heavy will even fit him now! im hoping it will as its a master and it was pretty big when I tired it on when it arrived.

Even my 29yr old mare is warm and she had to have a full clip a few couple of months ago!

CRAZINESS

Nope! Had a fleece under his MW a couple of nights after being worked but not had to buy a HW! TBF he is unclipped but has no winter coat you could clip!

I don't own a heavyweight!

But yes, pony has been in no fill sheet all winter. Think he's had his medium on a grand total of 2 times this winter.

my mare would be happy with a no fill given half that change but shes 29 and fully clipped, I'm not leaving her out to get cold! she's been a bit poorly this winter, since being diagnosed with cushings but I cant believe how warm they both are! even with -2 the other morning!

they are both connie x tb! so not massively fluffy!

Yikes I broke into the HW ages ago!
She's currently in a MW and a HW (no necks) at night as it's been getting down to -1 some nights.
But then one of the welsh ponies is in a LW and a nice temperature.
They're all different :)

My clipped thoroughbred is still warm in his medium weight :) will probably be in his heavy within the next couple of weeks though!

My TB boy has a body clip (half head and legs left on) and he is warm in his 200g. Even over the past couple of nights when it has dropped colder. In fact a few times in the milder weather iv had to put him down to his 100g rug and although i was shocked at a clipped horse having a lightweight rug on, he really was too warm in his 200g and was a lot happier when i changed it down. Iv got up to a 400g rug for him, but dont think il be needing it at all this year!!

Mine's quite happy in his 200g mediumweight but he's a Connie X so he does have a big fluffy winter coat! Might layer with another mediumweight in February if it gets more icy though.

yeh my mare is also happier with the lighter rug on, I tried to change it a couple of weeks ago, and she kicked me in the knee, I can only assume she was too warm and wanted to stay naked for a while, she's never in 13 yrs tried kicking me! not used to it being so mild!

Totally with you here, my horse has a trace clip and so far has been in his Mark Todd MW all Winter, I haven't had a winter at my current yard so all HW rugs are in the shed at home and felt bad that I hadn't got a HW to put on him on Tuesday morning because it was really cold, so I got it out but Wednesday it was far too mild for a MW.
Think I will play it day by day and when we get a frost rug up to the HW.

Ha ha we've only just been talking about this tonight!! I bought my lad a lovely new heavy weight stable rug in the summer and I'll be surprised if it even makes its way out of the bag this year. Yesterday he was turned out in his 100gm rug as the day before he was far too warm in the 200gm (he's not clipped but not overly woolly either).
