I have a lovely Knight Rider heavyweight rug, 400g, and it just isn't shifting. I've had it on Ebay, preloved, gumtree for a silly low price and still noone has snapped it up.

It's got a loose neck strap where my horse rubbed himself on barbed wire, but that's all that's wrong and it's easily fixed. I bought it in January for £85 and am selling it for £60 and am open to offers.

The postage is £10 as it's a big bulky rug that'll need to go in a box to be sent. It's 6ft 9 and really is lovely, but it just doesn't fit my lad. It's only been worn a handful of times. It's freshly cleaned, just got a little dusty.

If anyone has any ideas or wants it, please let me know, I really am desperate to get rid of it.

I'm afraid when buying second hand people are after bargains. If you add your postage and asking price you come to nearly the price of a new rug. I'd imagine you'll have to seriously lower your price to get any interest. Sorry, I doubt that's what you wanted to hear!

Probably the wrong time of year to be trying to sell it, you'd have more luck in September or October I would think.

Also, I would say you're asking a lot for a second hand turnout rug with barbed wire damage IMO. A lot of people don't like to wash their turnouts as they are compromised even after re-proofing.

You're selling a HW rug in SUMMER..... and then, it's waaaayyy too much for damage aswell....

No one is thinking about HW rugs... people are buying show stuff, fly stuff & fancy summer things.

i will give you 20 quid... am on the hunt for 6 9s!

also whislt ive got you here can u send me your addy again please mate...

I paid £65 for two nearly brand new Weatherbeetas - thats £65 for both, about £30 a rug....Thats a fair second hand price. I also bought a new, never worn Shires HW for £20.

I can't get rid of any second hand rugs, that have no damage for £15 - LW's too so its the right time of year.

Too expensive and wrong time of year.

I always hang onto my sales rugs until a really nasty, wet, cold, week at the start for he winter. Then you can't pack 'em up quick enough, damaged or not, people WANT.

The reverse is I always buy my own rugs in the middle of summer ;) ... and rarely pay more than £20 for excellent quality rugs. In fact, I just bought my ski outfit for this year for £20 ....

Sorry, but I wouldn't call £60 for a damaged a silly low price, I was expecting you to say selling it for £20. No offence, but it is way over priced, as others have said. If you are looking to sell it now, you are best off looking to get about £20-30 for it

^^ sorry this. I just bought 2 new lightweight rugs from Derby Horse in their sale original price for the pair £98.99 and I paid £29.99 for the pair and no postage.

On that sale basis £20-£30 is more realistic for your rug. :(

Oooo bexcy.... is that the new one in your sig??

i sold a weatherbeeta orican detach-a-neck heavyweight with a little bit of rust on some buckles for £45 - they are over £100 new but you have to be realistic in the second hand market - sorry

I do buy heavyweight turnouts at this time of year as they are often cheaper and with less competition from other bidders.

However your rug is waaaay overpriced - especially as it is not a 'big name' brand. As an example I reckon to pay no more than £80 for a secondhand Rambo Duo (new prices = nearly £300!).

have to say i agree with the others, I think if you really want to shift this rug you'll need to dramatically reduce the price, at least by half.

Last year i bought 2 second hand Masta rugs, one a heavy weight full neck turnout and the other a heavy weight stable rug, the turnout was immaculate (only used a couple of times i think) and the stable rug had had repairs in the past but professionally done and in excellent nick, they'd also been professionally cleaned and the turnout re-proofed - paid £65 for the pair!
