Hi guys.
Feel like I haven't been online for ages, but really only Thursday evening, and nearly had a fit when saw that there were 1300 new replies in comp riders (haven't even dared to look at NL). Had my bro and SiL staying for the weekend.
No venues open for XC schooling at the mo due to wet weather, so took me and Flora plus brother on Ben to the beach for a blast on Saturday. Big black clouds circled round us, but we didn't get wet (except with salt water obviously) and had a few nice long canters (the wind was so strong coming back, I had to hang on to a piece of mane or be blown off!!).
Then OH had a 8.36 dressage time at event on Sunday, so v early start (5am) to get there (bit late, as we were so early the gateman wasn't there so drove straight past and us and another 3 lorries drove round the country for a bit before I phoned an official and got directions).
He did his usual fairly average dressage (nearer the bottom than the top) but SJ and XC clear (3 water fences and 2 skinnies on the course, so even though other fences weren't the biggest in the world, the course still caused planty of trouble). Managed to stay dry in the morning (dodging the snow showers), but his XC warmup was livened up by a massive hailstorm, can't believe that I have been at an event where it SNOWED!!!!
Home and crashed out on the sunday evening (too late to watch rough diamond though), and got up to 2 inches of snow on Monday morning (holiday in Ireland as St Patrick'd day), and had XC lesson on Flora booked with Tiny Clapham at 11.30. Luckily there was no snow at the venue so headed off as planned.
Due to the weather and the ground, we were doing XC in a large outdoor arena with portables, but if someone had told me at the start, that by the end we would have jumped a 90cm curving double of skinnies (can't believe we jumped loads of single skinnies - never mind 2 in a row) and also had a fabulous sail over 2 steeplechase training fences along one side - well I really wouldn't have believed it at all. This is a baby horse who has done a bit of 80cm SJ, and been XC 4 times in her entire life after all.
Am far too wrecked to get photos/video sorted tonight, but will try to get organised and put some up tomorrow.
Glad most of HHO seems to have had a good weekend out and about (and v sorry I haven't replied to many, but has taken me the guts of 2 hours just to read them)
