Well not only is he a grown up, with a pulled mane and able to wear travel boots with no fuss, but he also has front shoes on!!!!! No, don't worry, I have no intention of riding him or doing road work, he has seedy toe. I am SO annoyed!!! It's where he had his abcess in October and when he had his feet trimmed on 25th of January (yes 2 1/2 weeks ago - he's obviously been done since the abcess too), I noticed a small (talking maybe 5mm) vertical crack in his toe and pointed it out to the farrier - she said she'd have a look when she got that foot. She did, she said, "oh it's nothing, it'll grow out fine" I wasn't happy with this summation and on serveral occasions since have considered calling the farrier I worked with at my old job (he's awesome, top Newmarket chappie - PF knows him well and can vouch for his awesomeness), but I didn't - well I I'm really kicking myself now!! Blummin' glad that I moved the horses this last weekend and that new YO had her farrier this afternoon and that he agreed to look at H!! He's REALLY expensive (£42 for fronts, inc. call out ), but my goodness he's good!! I'm really kicking myself though, I KNEW it wasn't right, I should have acted on my gut feeling!! This new excellent farrier also said that his feet were not balanced and that for the time of year he had grown far too much hoof in 2 1/2 weeks - he trimmed his hinds too!! Look at poor H's feet now - please excuse him standing like a goof + all the bits of carrot I was stuffing into him to make stand still and not fidget.
And after the hole had been dug out the get rid of the bacteria and I'd sprayed it with a Terrimycin spray
