Hunting is off for a couple of weeks ( due to kennel cough aka hound flu to my un horsey friends!), and the hunt are organising hedge jumping instead. Some say it is a 'contest', some say a 'masterclass'. Having only hunted this year, i have never done one of these before. Will ring to find out more, but dont want to seem like a complete muppet! So how big are the hedges likely to be? i will be ok with 3 foot, but 4 foot and i wont bother going! Will there be ponies, of will it all be horses? I have a funny image of hedges getting bigger as we go across fields, and the one to make it furthest wins!

Any info anyone has really?
Waht should i wear if i do go?

Thanks

It may just be a jolly round the hunt jumps & hedges following the fieldmaster.

Watch out though, our hunt did this on a foggy day when hunting was called off & it was like the Grand National! Great fun until horse & I took a tumble & broke my collar bone missing the whole season as a result!

Have you ever done a Hunter Trial? Much the same really I would think with hedges and timber involved. The question as to " ..... how big are the hedges ....." is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string!! Go and jump what you wish to jump - there will always be a way around some, if not most of the fences. I would suggest wearing Ratcatcher. Why not just ring the Hon Hunt Sec and ask whatever questions to which you need answers.

Go and do it, you will really enjoy it and if they look a little big for your liking just miss them out

Happy hedge hopping
