So along with my poorly eyed horse with Uveitis and hoof abscesses (in another post) I thought bombard you with my other patient, a poorly warmblood with a badly split heel bulb. It's the third thing for this winter as I had one in who'd tweeked something in his fetlock, he's all mended for now (touch wood!!) so hopefully no more bad luck, its very infuriating! However for the near 20 years I've had horses I've been very lucky with injuries, I've had more than they have, so I'm pretty grateful, its cheaper when I get hurt too
So patient 2... Stable ward, bed number 2... The horse-pony has got a deep split in his heel bulb that runs into the frog slightly, he did it on the 20th Dec and hasnt really shown much progress in healing. It clean and not had any infection in it as yet, but was contemplating trying an egg/heart bar shoe to try and hold the heel together when he puts weight through it.
Has anyone else had much dealings with egg/heart bar for a similar issue?
