at last, my mare got a bit thrushy at the beginning of the year (1st time ever for one of my own) she was at a friends yard being backed and as she becoming a problem due to walking through fences she was restricted to one field and yard turnout. the result was a bog in the field and a wet pooey yard despit being cleared out each day and her walking round in it.
it has taken until now for her to be consistently landing heel first and all signs of thrush has gone.
the biggest secret with her has been to rasp her heels and bars away so the frog has been forced to do some work-i imagine this makes the blood flow increase/promotes healing and as the frog regrows and wears away the thrush goes with it.
but we are finally back to growing some beefy frogs that are healthy and dry looking with no smelly gunk.
hurrah!
will post some pictures when I can but my new camera got run over and my phone broke so that will have to wait a while am just so pleased as it really is best foot/hoof forward again now
