Just been on that great newspaper site, 'The Daily Mail' (I was really looking at an article on Victoria Beckham's leather trousers) and in an article posted as '10 Reasons for getting a parking ticket' had this:

The cavalry attack

You leave your horse in the street and what do you expect to find when you get back? A small pile of manure perhaps, but not a parking ticket.

Yet this is exactly what happened to Robert McFarland, a retired blacksmith from Yorkshire, when he left his horse Charlie Boy for a few moments.

Under the vehicle description on the ticket, the over-zealous warden had written "brown horse".

I was always told you can break any traffic law you like while RIDING a horse - ie speeds and one way streets - as they are not a vehicle. Its only if they are harnessed to a trap etc with wheels - that you are then classed as a vehicle and can be treated accordingly.

So no - they really can't give you a parking ticket for a horse - how do you look up reg details to prosecute if they don't pay???

Jobsworth!!!
