- what size horse/pony do you ride? Im only 5 ft and wondering what you reckon is the biggest height/type I could get away with without looking stupid?? Also anyone got any pics for an idea would be great!!

I'm 5'2" and will ride just about anything!

I feel happiest at about 15.2 - 16.0hh, but I quite often ride a pony of about 13.2hh and friends hunter type, who must be about 17hh (although both are now so hugely fat that I have refused to put their saddles on until they lose some weight!)

I'm 5'6" and my horse is 16 hh. I get scared on big horses and actually wish she was a bit smaller.

Im 5ft but and have ridden most sizes however, stick to 13.2-14.2hh now as feel more comfy. I dont think the height is the problem, more the width really.

im just about 5.3" and i ride a 15.3hh.. i looked really stupid on him when i first got him but im kinda used to it now. i ride anything from 11.2hh- although not reguarly, just when theyre being naughty, up to 17.2hh hunters

but i prefer to stick to 15.3hh

I'm 5ft7 and ride a 15.1hh. He can take my weight fine, but my legs are a bit long on him really. I think I'm better suited to 16.2-3hh but can obviously ride much larger horses too. I think 14.2hh would be the smallest I would want to (and could!) ride!

I'm 5'5 and ride a 15hh. She's a perfect size for me, plus she's a Welsh Cob so she gives the impression that she's bigger. I couldn't picture myself of anything much taller, if I was out to buy another horse I would probably go up to 15.2hh.

I'm 5'2 and have ridden everything from 13hh to 18hh (including a 17.3 Clydesdale!). I think I look fine on anything from 15-17hh, but probably best suited to around 16hh mark - depending on the build of horse.

I'm just shy of 5ft 9 and have ridden anything from a 14.1 to my current loan horse who is a full up 16.3. I do feel more comfortable on bigger horses tho

I'm 5ft 8 riding a 15hh Connemara. I quite like riding the smaller ones tbh, no smaller than 14.2hh really as my legs do tend to dangle. When I look to buy in September I will look for something 15hh-16.1hh as smallies are way more fun

I am 5ft 2" and I think me and my 16hh horse go really well together heightwise. Phoenix is 3/4 tb x 1/4 shire so he's neither fine or totally chunky/cobby.. well, you can see him in my sig.

I'm 5'7" and seen as i've got right into this showing lark i think i should ride nothing bigger than a sec b! That is the in look these days and you must be over 20 which i am so thats great. Find me a sec b anyone?

I'm 5ft 2, and Ellie is a lightweight 15.2

I have abnormally long legs which, I think, make me look bigger on her than someone of the same height with 'normal' length legs

I have ridden up to 17.3 in the past, but definitely feel most comfortable at 15.2 - 16hh.

I'm 5ft7 now and am selling my lw 15hh mare soon because I've outgrown her

I won't buy anything under a chunky 16hh again though. Saying that I regularly ride a 14hh cob and have ridden up to a 17.2hh. I look best on a 16.2hh ish.

I am 5'3 and have a huntery type 16.3 and a 15.3 TB, i guess i do look pretty stupid on the 16'3

but i know someone who is no more than 4'10 and evented a 17hh giraffey WB to Novice...

Im 5ft 2'' and Im going to take my newly broken sec A in a ridden class at the next show! I don't look too bad if I ride short, I only weigh 7st 10lbs so Im ok lol!

I ride a 18hh WB at work, I look like a pea on a drum!
This is Gimley and I having fun in the field last week, I broke him in and gave him a month off and brought him back in a couple of weeks ago, he's such a sweetie!
