Sorry to post here but not many in viewing all about dogs and I really need some help...

Ok my puppy is 13 weeks old now. Most of the time he is a good boy. Good with going to the toilet outside, no chewing anything in the house just my hand!! Which is driving me mad as it hurts!

BUT........

He has just started to dig holes in our garden. Now me personally I dont mind, but my dad has spent hours getting the lawns just so and the little poop goes and digs 2 holes in the lawn.

What can I do to stop this?

Oh an also when I walk him he tends to jump up the back of my legs but only mine no one else who walks him.

Please please help me!!!

Thanks in advance

Do you often feed him food/treats from your pockets? He could just associate you with food and be jumping up to investigate. I recently walked a dog for someone who did thid, he was just from pure excitement as he is that sort of dog.
With regards to digging I would keep an eye on him in the garden and if he starts to dig I would associate it with something negative, such as being squirted witth water.
Hope any of this helps, good luck with him.

Thanks TS_ for the reply.

No I dont feed treats from pocket but in the house I get one from him box and make him sit before giving it to him by hand not just dropping it on the floor. He may still think I have treats all the time. I do say no when he does it and make him then walk by my side.

The digging is going to drive me mad and its only 2 holes at the moment, but I dont want any more and I dont want him to think he can dig any more either.

He does get 3 walks a day and these are walks not just round the block so I dont think its boredom - its like he just wants to be naughty!

I have had 2 KC Spaniels before and this one is proving to be hard work.

I would recommend (if you have Sky) sitting down in front of the telly and watching 500 episodes of The Dog Whisperer. The guy's brilliant and down to earth - no fancy stuff, just massive experience from his early days as a professional dog walker and an awesome ability to read and interpret a dog's body language. If you haven't got Sky, he's got books and DVDs out too - Cesar Millan.

Basically you need to show your pup that YOU are in charge, not him. Draw up a list of what he is and isn't allowed to do and stick rigidly to it. Multiply his walks by 100 so he's pleasantly tired. Happy, fulfilled dogs don't do what your pup is doing. If you think what he's doing now is awful, try to imagine what it will be like when he's still doing it as an adult. What breed is he?

I do have sky and I have seen his work, he is good!

My puppy has loads of toys which he plays with for hours, gets loads of attention, also he had someone home with him alll the time. His walks - he gets 3 long walks a day! We walk about 7 miles in total a day - which i would class as quite far for a 13 week old king charles spaniel.
We have been for a 3 mile walk this morning and he is still on the go!!

Im trying to get him out of this jumping and digging asap as he will soon be grown like you said and it will be 10x's worse then.

Maybe its more Dog Whisperer I need to watch see if there is anything there to help me help him.
