I have a Fell pony who needs a new saddle, current one is too wide and sits back a bit I have used a mattes pad to adjust it. it is an older saddle so flocking a bit hard and its not adjustable.

Pony is 13.3hh currently quite slim for a Fell, slight withers (not flat), not massive shoulders and not that flat backed and will fill out a bit more so not keen on getting a saddle that cant be adjusted.

I plan to do a bit of showing mainly inhand, schooling, maybe dressage but in summer I tend to feel an hour of schooling =1 hours lost ride out, pleasure rides and long term aim fo do endurance and le trek.

I had arranged for S Bloom Native Pony Saddles to come out but due to a familiy finances issue had to cancel. Felt like crying as I was really looking forward to have a saddle fitted that ;

a. was the one I wanted and
b. would be fitted by some one I trust.

I am now limited to spending about £250 to £350 max this year part of which will include what ever I get for current saddle. This will allow me to save for the native pony saddle I really want for next year and keep what ever I get as a spare for when proper one goes for flocking etc.

I am considering:

comfortcopper beach - just worried it might slip as had a crashing fall on a libra trek that slipped
thorowgood cob or pony club saddle or
wintec vsd.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Jst wanted some replies to my thread so a title change seemed in order...

Kent and Masters saddles fitted my 13.3hh Fell really well. You could try getting a 2nd hand one? Alternatively, the thorowgood saddles are the same tree and much more available and look quite nice?

Meant to say, these are very adjustable (gullet, flocking ponts etc) and come in the cob model (the ones I have). I've got a GP and a dressage K&M and they were the best fit. If I were you I'd go for the Thorowgood Cob saddle, especially if they're easily available for your budget!

I'm going past a well known tack retailer after a client meeting tomorrow so may take a thorowgood to try. Poor pony she grumped at me today when I touched her on the saddle area. She just momentarily pulled a face which is being very expressive by her standards, she . Is such a quiet little thing:-(
