Hello. It's not really a new intro; I used to be Maesfen that was on here for years but got locked out so I've had to re-register. What a palaver that was.
Anyway, for anyone who didn't know me - I've worked with horses most of my life; for the last 30 years have been able to have liveries here; mostly hunters or broodmares, both my own and others, also a lot of youngstock but now I'm 75, I've cut down to just one of my own, a coloured cob filly called Ellie who is just a yearling. Before I was kicked off before, I did a post about her called My Late Life Crisis. I also have an old mare livery who has been retired for years (and been here nearly five years already). TBH, after a very badly smashed ankle (non horse related!) nearly two years ago which has left me very unbalanced, I'm nearly at the stage where I want stop having horses altogether, I'm just not nimble enough, everything is hard work (more than normal) and it frustrates me to heck when I can't do something that would have been normal for me before then.
We also have two dogs, Ice, a lurcher who was found in a cardboard box in a car park in Shrewsbury and Brexit, a previous Albany pack hound who I was given when they disbanded. In early November, we were given a demon kitten that had been dumped at a friend's farm with another. They were tiny, only about five weeks old but they only managed to catch the one; they went back for the other a day later and it had already died. Horribly, Pie (we have a feral ginger called Pumpkin!) wasn't feral at all so some callous barsteward had just tipped them out; I'd love to get my hands on them. Anyway, Pie is a sweetie that has demonic moments and she loves to watch the racing where she chases the horses across the screen and then peers around it to see where they've gone! She's off for her jab and a microchip on Saturday, I expect her to vent her rage at Brexit when we're back; they play and sleep together all the time.
Anyway, enough - time to see what I've been missing.

Welcome back, Mfh999!

I'm looking after a rescue lurcher, Lola, for my friend your age. Lola is very sweet with people and overall calm, except for her own demon moments when she sees another dog, which is not surprising as she was hospitalised twice after being attacked. Unfortunately, she injured my friend on one of the walks due to her speed and strength. How is your rescue lurcher?
Thanks; I see you're another 'new' member; there seems to be a lot of us.
Ice, is fine, still a lunatic, still afraid of any loud bangs even when she knows what they are and still very soppy; sleeps on my bed every night and I wouldn't be without her.
Ellie, my coblet was originally named Lola when I first got her but it just didn't suit her at all. Sorry to hear about your friend, hope she recovers soon.

Welcome back! Did you find a home for Goody?
.
Thanks. Sadly, I had to put Goody down. For no reason that we could find (veterinary) he suddenly started to flip his lid for no reason and at any time without any warning. Nothing had changed, still had the same company, feed etc; a bute trial didn't help but he was getting nasty to handle. I'm not a wimp with something stroppy, can usually manage whatever (can also be soft and fluffy when needed!) but this was nasty and sneaky; he'd go days being almost perfect then the next taking chunks out of anyone near including the other horses and double barrelling them and me. With grandchildren here and hubby sometimes doing them (he's more used to cows!) I wasn't going to risk it and I certainly couldn't pass him on; I'd never sleep at night so he went to the kennels and nearly wrecked the transport on the way having a real temper tantrum. Very sad but I don't regret my decision; he was a lovely looking horse but he also never got over his fear of his legs being touched which didn't help either. Still, at least he had two good years here; I gave him that at least.

Ah shame- I was going to suggest the same!

Welcome back. I'm not 75 yet, but I too have a doddery ankle, to which I can add iffy hips. I hate getting older!
It's a beggar isn't it? My ankle (broke three bones, dislocated and tore ligaments plus my MCL which didn't help) has helped my hips and back to play up too. I wouldn't have minded so much but it wasn't even horse related!

I have to say that news may have saved me from myself, he was so lovely in your last video. Something going badly wrong with him inside by the sound of it. Take a pat on the back for giving him a good couple of years and then doing the right thing by him.

Thanks, yes. When you see something like that, you know it is (or should be) the end to avoid injury to anyone. He was a gorgeous sort and could be very sweet which is why it was a shock when he turned so nasty. I'm just so glad he was still here, would have hated someone else having to deal with it.
