Hello All,

New to the forum as I'm looking to buy a horse and it's been a number of years since I last had one so here for tips and hints.

Having a second look at a 14hh gelding at the weekend and while a lovely pony, I'm a little worried I'm too big for him(5,5 and 9stone). If I can upload a picture maybe someone give me their opinion.

Welcome to the madhouse. I have a 14.2hh NF gelding. I'm 5'6 and heavier than you so I'd say you would be fine.

I have had 2 New Forest ponies both under 14hh and they have both carried me for a) years of hunting b) years of doing Endurance. Although I now have 3 purebred Arabs one is only 14hh and at 25 still is competing at a fairly high level.

You should have no problem with a 14hh pony.
