Just signed in to the forum as I have a grazing question.

We have recently moved house and have a 2 acre area which we want to put to horse grazing. I am looking forward to the luxury of having a horse at home.

My question is - how soon can the paddock be grazed once seed has been sown. I getting conflicting advice. Some people say 3 months, others 12 months. I know I may have to fence off an area that in effect could be trashed.

Thank you in advance. Any advice gratefully accepted.

then in an ideal world you would seed and top for 2 years before grazing to get the best from the land, you can graze it as soon as you like but the longer it is left to grow with being topped and rolled then the better the root system and the more hard wearing it will be. if you cannot give it 2 yrs to fully establish then be prepared to over sow possibly at yearly intervals
