Hello & help please!!

Hello!
I'm 16 and I hunt and ride a lot, and I've been asked to ride at a point to point, but I've never even sat in a racing saddle before!!
Does anyone have any advice for an utter jockey newbie?? What do you do at the start and finish? Is there even a gate at a local point to point? Any and all advice very much appreciated and needed!!

Well I don't think its a good idea to ride in a point to point having never sat in a racing saddle before. Is there somewhere you can get some practice in first? I'd contact whoever is organising the the P2P with your other questions. Hope that helps.

As above, plus, I wonder from your questions, whether you have even been to a P2P before? Do you know what you are in for and if not, how are you sure it's something you want to do? I only ask, because as a young but experienced rider, people wanted me to jockey too. I chose not to (although I was perfectly happy hunting and team chasing) and I would encourage you to attend some P2Ps before deciding and certainly before riding in one
