Just wondering if any one has any advice on treating my mare's warts. She has one on her belly which is disc shaped and about a half inch across and keeps weeping. She also has two on her thighs which are more prominant but have not become 'crusty' yet. Oh and hello!

hello!! Sorry can't help with warts, only to suggest that maybe you speak to your vet - especially if it is weepy!

But welcome anyway!

Ask your vet they should know what to do......we tied one of our horses worts with thin string and after a few days it came off, however if you horses worts are weeping i dont think that would help....not sure tho..soz...pointless reply

Hi vickyguns, My sisters horse had warts exactly the same symptoms as your horse. And his went crusty in the summer its when the flies eat them. If they are prominent with a neck you can strangle them with cotton, Tie it round as close to the horses body as you can very tight it will fall off in a couple of weeks. Or you colud try this ointment our vet gave us it for human warts and you get it in chemists at the pharmacy counter its called Posalfilin, its brown ointment rub it on twice a day after a week the wart will swell massive, DONT panic keep putting it on the leave it to fall off it will look weepy huge and scabby and awfull be beleive me it works, my sisters horse had 2 big ones under his stomach which interfered with the girth now they are gone, when we first used Posalfilin, i rang the vet panicing the wart was getting bigger but he assured me that was normal dont worry, glad we had faith cos jacks are ok now. I know how you feel about them especially when flies eat them. Good Luck
