Hello. I rudely submitted a post a couple of days ago without introducing myself, so here goes.
I am the lucky owner of a beautiful 6 year old, 16.1hh Irish Sport Horse. She is Blue & White, hence the name Cloud (aka The Colourful Cloud). I got her last October from the riding school I was helping out at (no she wasn't working there, just a project for the owner's daughter) so I had known her for about 18 months before I took the plunge. She's the first horse I have ever owned, although I had ponies as a kid.
I rode a lot as a child, but never had any lessons, I just read lots of books, jumped on & gave it a go, as you do when you're younger & have no fear. I then took about 20 years off, only riding occassionally when on holiday etc. I started having lessons just over 2 years ago & worked at a riding stables to improve my knowledge of looking after horses & get more opportunity to practice my riding. Now I have caught the bug big time!
I know you're all going to think what is a novice doing buying a then 5 year old, but as soon as I sat on her I was smitten. She has a lovely, giving nature & tries so hard to please me. We are learning together, which causes my instructor a few nightmares, but is very rewarding. Some of our lessons are with him riding her & me watching what I should be doing, which is really useful.
Anyway, that's us. I'm sure, with my lack of knowledge, I will be picking your brains again soon.
