Hello - Am new to the forum. Just moved to a new place which has 2 small paddocks which have bark down, really useful in this wet weather but they need topping up and have been offered some conifer bark chippings and some where I think I read they were dangerous to horses??? Have I imagined this. Would welcome any advice.
Thanks
Heather

Hi and welcome. Yes they are poisonous but some horses won’t touch it. Really depends on your horse and if your willing to gamble. I no longer use any bark chip as my Shetland decided he liked to eat it and got colic! It is good for mud short term but you end up with a mulch mess after a while.
