Hello all,

Very excited to be coming back to owning after raising three children - Something i absolutely loved doing during my teenage years, but i had my first child when i was 20, and my youngest is now 6 (and pony mad) which i completely encouraged as i was keen to come back myself!

So here we are! My DD now has a little 12h Dartmoor who is adorable and follows her around like a puppy (he will infact lick her face if she stands still long enough!) and i have just brought home a 5 year old 15h mixed irish sports mare to be my forever horse and share with my middle daughter (13) who is keen to event.

Having been through some teething problems with fitting our dartmoor in a brand new native saddle, I'm keen to get it right for my mare, bearing in mind she still has some 'quality' to put on and i really don't want to have to keep changing saddles

two q's please? thinking of buying an ex-demo barnsby itree VSS - would anyone recommend? any other recommendations? She's going to be quite deep in the chest, and would like a saddle for eventing, but that doesn't obstruct her shoulder.

Does anyone know of a good saddle fitter in Devon who will fit and alter a number of different makes? Our previous saddle fitter will only fit and adjust their own saddles.

Thanks for your advice in advance! super excited to be returning to so many good memories!

If you do not want to have to keep changing saddles you need to get the horse to a reasonable weight not under or over, then establish some basic fitness with lungeing and long reining. Hope that helps.
