Hi all, I enjoy reading the forum and thought I’d join. I used to have a fell pony many years ago (Lownthwaite Rob II) and I show jumped and competed in in-hand, ridden and working hunter. We were in the West Sussex Riding Club showjumping team and we won the South Coast Championships. Despite only being 13.2 he was a brilliant jumper and we won a few puissance classes and competed against horses that towered over us. I haven’t had any horses since Rob was put down 24 years ago but I still love horses. Here’s a photo of us. He had to have an eye removed but he coped well and we carried on competing. I also had a beautiful New Forest pony, called Mouse. Sadly Mouse died when he was 2yrs old. He tried to jump a fence to get away from another pony and fell and broke his neck :-( I have a dog now, a small apricot poodle called Teddy :)

What a great introduction. Really pleased you've joined the forum. Rob sounds like a class act. Sorry to hear about Mouse, it must have been devastating. A picture of Teddy would be nice, there are some lovely dogs pictured in the dog part of the forum.

Thank you for your messages everyone. I love reading all the horsey stuff, even though I haven’t ridden for about 18 years. My favourite colour horses are black and dun. Black because Rob was black and not sure why dun’s. Because they are an unusual colour I think. 20 odd years ago I was very lucky to ride Downlands Cancara. My trainer used to look after him when the family went on holiday. He was amazing 😀
