Born and bred in Hull and went to Hull Uni in 2005 as a mature student. I don't live in Hull now but can say eaterywise, that Desaru in the town centre opposite the Prospect Shopping Centre, is a small Chinese and Malaysian restaurant that has been going for at least 35 years and is an absolute gem, the Malay dishes are especially lovely. The restaurant within Napoleon's Casino, also in the town, is really good too. Pearson Park Hotel had a great restaurant, whenever 'big' groups played in Hull it was their favoured spot.
Near Uni there are a few streets with lots of bistros and cafe-bars, Princes Ave Chanterlands Ave and Newland Ave. All within walking distance.
Right opposite uni the Old Grey Mare pub does a good grill and general pub food. Have a look on Trip Advisor website, handy as it has maps too.

I absolutely loved Hull Uni, I was a bit worried about entering uni life at such an advanced age but it was great. Very friendly. I got an info pack at freshers' day and it was full of handy tips on where to eat, vouchers for places etc. Students Union office will help with any queries you may have.

Don't miss Hull's Old Town area, the Museums Quarter is based there and apart from a bit of culture there are some ye olde pubs which also serve food and are very quirky...one has a skull on the bar from a woman who was walled up in the place centuries ago!

Join Hull University's Riding Club, they have an annual tour to Salou :) They use Bishop Burton College as a base and bus you there. Lots on offer for horsey folk.

Whereabouts are you staying?
If you have any other questions I'll do my best to help you.

I'm currently working in hull and living just out of town.

Lots of places on princes ave and chanterlands avenue that do good food. I really like Aunt Bibbys the American style diner
