Hi, Yes mainly leaving other horses, particularly one horse. He is the herd leader in the field and is on constant red alert.

He will come in from the field (which is a looong way from yard) fairly well now - stops and plants once or twice but will then walk on. Once in yard now settles. My problem is being able to hack out on my own. He will happily hack with other horses but I haven't attempted to go out on my own yet as I want to be sure that once I ask him he has to go! Also I am concerned that when he sees another horse out I don't know how to deal with his behaviour.

He always rides out in front but if the horse accompanying me even goes around a tree away from him he loses the plot.

His nappiness consists of planting, running backwards, bunny hop rears (sticking his head up in the air like a giraffe) etc. I can cope with that and eventually over come it. What makes me nervous is when he panic naps.

To be fair he has improved in the short time I have had him, he isn't a nasty horse (I would have got rid) but how long do I give it? I am aware that I need to be confident around him and on him (try to be) Any suggestions gratefully recieved.
