Hello, i'm new. I have a 5 year old Welsh Section D gelding. I am feeling a bit sorry for the boy this year and have splashed out on Eva matting for him. Do you think im being soft bringing him in at night? He was out 24/7 all last year and came out of the winter looking great. He is a major fatty and was in at night for the winter before last and came out of winter fat, only being fed hay. What do you all think?

Hi, welcome to the forum... was your horse in at night last winter or out 24/7? sorry was abit confused by your post! :o

My TB is completly over rugged and over fed and generally spoilt rotten over the winter!! :o he is in at night and he does really well on it though :) x

Hi Sorry. He was out last year 24/7. The year before (the first year i had him) he was stabled at night and out in the day.
He just looks so sorry for himself when its rubbish and raining like it has been, plus he loves to lay down to sleep and although i know he's a horse and won't melt etc he just looks so much more comfy on a shavings bed. I think i'm going soft!

Welcome to the forum!

I think it's very hard to know what's best for your horse sometimes. You only have to see how many threads on this forum are about whether to bring in, leave out, rug or not to know how hard everyone finds these decisions. :)
