Hi everyone - new poster here!

Hope you are all well :)

I've joined this forum to ask some opinions, I've owned my boy since 6 weeks old and he's just turned 2 in the past couple of weeks and is a good 15hh. I rescued him and his mum who was a 14.2 gypsy cob piebald mare and just assumed he was a standard gypsy cob but sire is completely unknown. Just wondered if anyone has any ideas if he could be a cross? He has a lot of feather and his mane is down to his shoulder on the other side, he also has hooves like dinner plates

edit: just trying to figure out how to add his photo!

Me neither!
but thanks for posting lovely picture :) must be lovely to see him grow up.
Looks very gypsy cob to my very inexpert eye - but there must be something which makes you think there is something else in the mix? It might not be obvious from the photo - perhaps if you explain more, someone else who knows more can help.

Thanks for the replies :)
I always thought he was full cob - then when he last had his feet done a few weeks ago my farrier commented how the only feet he's seen like his (now he's grown a bit more) are shires/Clydesdale feet so just started wondering if there's something I was missing! My original plan was to bring him on and rehome him as I've never been a heavy horse sort of person but he's doing a good job of changing my mind so far! I'm hoping he's going to keep growing and make a nice size :)

Hello and welcome to the forum. He is lovely. You could be right on his breeding. It is anyones guess really but something in his ancestry, either recent or more distant, gave him those hairy legs. A Cob, whether bred by gypsies or otherwise, is not a breed but a type and could be made up of anything. Most cobs have some heavy horse blood in them somewhere. Welsh Cob is a breed but they do not look as chunky as yours and are not coloured. Cobs are great. I have two and love them to bits.
